Consignment Sale, Final Tally

Well, the sale is over. It was so much fun selling my stuff from the comfort of my own home. Oh wait ... I do that all the time. It was so much fun selling my stuff from the comfort of my own home without having to worry about shipping and feedback!

I sent 167 items. Some of those were 2 or more piece outfits, so technically, I suppose I probably sent about 200 individual pieces. I sold 77 items, for a grand total of $511!

Yes, of course the people running the sale will get a percentage of that. I'll end up with right around $300. But I'm totally happy with that amount, especially since it means I cleared out nearly half of my older clothing inventory. Yay!

  1. I'd be happy with that also! Great job!

  2. Did you think that the sale was worth it even though it was an hour away? Did you factor in the cost for gas? Just asking because there is a sale about an hour away from my house also but I am not sure if it will be worth it with when I factor in gas. I will probably be selling around the same amount of items that you had, maybe even a few larger. Some of my clothes aren't high end name brand. Any thoughts?

  3. It was definitely worth it. I figured up my outside costs:

    Payments Received: $296.60
-tagging gun & barbs, I bought this spring for $6 and used about half the barbs for a yard sale, so I'll call that $3
-hangers I bought 10/$1 at the Dollar Store. Used about 80 = $8
-I only made one extra trip out of town for drop off (pick up day I was already in that town for church, and shopping day my sister drove) = $13

So even with the extra expenses, I still cleared $272.60.

The vast majority of the stuff that I consigned was from a lot of clothes I bought in February from a girl I graduated with. My investment has already been recovered 5 times, so I didn't even count inventory costs.

But then, I'd say a good 80% of what I consigned was Gymboree, so you'll want to take that into consideration as well.
