Update on my New Pricing Strategy

A couple weeks ago, I wrote that I was in the process of changing my pricing strategy. It's only been 2 weeks, but I've seen such great results that I wanted to share! Since writing that post, I have sold 31 pairs of shoes! In 2 weeks! I am sold, folks. All but one or two of those shoe sales were either new fixed price listings or old, revamped, changed-to-fixed-price listings. Let me tell you ... it was SO nice not having ridiculous offers coming in all week long. When I got an email from eBay, it was for a SOLD item!

I'm not having quite as much luck with my kids' clothes, but I did notice a bit of an increase. I may need to play around with the pricing still. I am changing all of my Gymboree over to 1/3 of retail, fixed price, plus shipping. I did have it all at a hair over half of retail, plus $3 added in for shipping, best offer, free shipping. I wasn't selling much at all, and I was getting a lot of very low offers. As the back to school season continues to pick up, I hope to sell more of it. But I am coming to the realization that 2004 styles are too old. These Gymbo moms want their girls to be trendy. 2004 isn't trendy anymore, apparently :(  I will continue to work on getting that older stuff out of here though.

Also, in light of the ridiculous number of unpaid item cases I've gotten lately (from accepting best offers), I am seriously considering lowering my prices and getting rid of the Best Offer option. It has been SO nice not dealing with many offers this week. I'm being lured quite strongly ... I'll let you know what I decide.

  1. I only had 5 pairs of shoes listed in my shop, but the day after I lowered my prices I finally sold my first pair! I'd rather get $25 quickly for $2 shoes than wait around for a sale!

Good luck with the Gymbo - I buy any year for my daughter as long as it's excellent condition. Style and price mean more to me than year. I might be an exception though!

  2. I'm not looking to make a killing on every item. If I buy something for a dollar and sell it for $25, I'm super happy. If it sells for more, all the better! For me it's better than the stock market or even the casino. What's the most money you made on a one dollar investment?

  3. Well it wasn't a $1 investment, but last summer I bought a "Curse You, Red Baron" Fire King mug at a yard sale for 5 cents and sold it for a little over $150.

  4. There is a site for selling just Gymboree Clothes and the buyer pays the paypal fees. It's called Gymboplace.com, I've sold there and seem to do better then ebay for selling just Gymbo clothes.

  5. Wow! I've not heard of that. I'm off to check it out right now! Thanks :)
