I went to an auction last Friday night. Haven't been to one of them in a year and a half. There wasn't much there that I was interested in, but it was a benefit auction for a dear family friend, so I enjoyed being there with family and good friends. I did spot a hard bonnet salon-style hair dryer, but I figured it would go for more than I was willing to pay for it, especially considering I didn't have a chance to research it. Finally toward the end of the (6 hour) auction, it came up. The auctioneer chuckled and said, "ok, here we have a hair dryer" and would you believe no one wanted it??? So I got it for a DOLLAR! I haven't tested it yet, but it's complete and in its original box. I'll need to clean it up and take pictures, but it's the same as the one in this listing (mine is pink). That one is new, so of course I don't expect to get that amount out of it, but for a dollar, I should be able to turn a decent profit on it.

Oh - I also got a crockpot that I'm pretty sure was never used. We go through crockpots like some families go through paper towels, so I was pretty excited to get a back-up one for $2.25!

  1. I hear you on the crockpots! I have broken several. Our best recent find was a Kitchenaid mixer. At one time that was my dream, to find one. I seriously wanted a Kitchenaid for at least 10 years. My sweet Mama bought me one last year for my birthday. Wouldn't you know we bought one this week for $25!

  2. I got this Raggedy Ann jack in the box at a garage sale for $1. I'm excited to see if I get any bids on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280726256267?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

  3. I found two pairs of beautiful boots. I have no idea what to sell them for! I paid 3 for Giani Bini Cowboy/Western (beige) boots and 5 for Antonio Melani (black to knee) I have to do some research. Do you think I should do auction or bidding. I've only been doing ebay for a month! Thanks, Love Love Love your blog!!!

  4. Generally speaking, I am NOT an advocate of auctions. Do your research, see how they do at auction. Last week, I did auction a pair of Keens, because that particular pair had an excellent sell-through rate and consistently good price, so I was willing to auction them for a quicker flip, and it worked out for me.

  5. I remember my grandmother having a hair dryer very similar to that! So funny to think of having to sit under one of those for hours...

We go through crock pots like crazy also. I like to do bulk cooking so it comes in handy to have 2-3 that I can have going at the same time.

I got some good items this week - nothing to scream about but I'm okay with slow and steady. (Or fast and steady!)

  6. I found these great vintage clothes pins. They are plastic and a rainbow of different colors. I found them at an estate sale. I think they are so cute and would keep them for myself except I have enough "stuff" as it is.
