Shoe Week at eBay Underground

Recently, we had a very in depth discussion about shoes here. This week on eBay Underground, our theme Topic of the Week is SHOES! If your niche is shoes and you have more to add to the topic, or if you would like to sell shoes but need more information, please stop by this week and add to our discussion. Our goal is to get as much participation as possible this week so we can compile all our information into an ebook, which will be available FREE to our members. Come join the conversation!

Jeans Week on eBay Underground!

Homeschool Week over on eBay Underground was a great success! We got lots of participation and lots of great information, which we'll be compiling into an ebook.

This week, we're talking about jeans. If you sell jeans, come and share some of your knowledge and wisdom with us. If you don't sell jeans but want to, come and ask questions and learn from those who know what they are talking about. This week, we'll be discussing:
  • top performing jeans
  • how to authenticate
  • how to spot vintage jeans
  • consistent sellers
Remember - the more participation we get, the more helpful the conversation will be. Come join us!

Calling All Homeschoolers!

Do you buy and sell homeschool materials? Are you a homeschool mom looking for homeschool materials?  Do you have lots of knowledge about buying and selling homeschool materials? Do you have lots of questions about buying and selling homsechool materials? Then listen up - this post is for you!

It may be the middle of summer, but now is the time that homeschool moms are putting together their curriculum for the fall. As a homeschool mom, I like to save money where I can on these materials. Homeschool books are expensive! I'm putting together a seventh grade Sonlight core for my daughter this summer, so I've been scouring eBay and Amazon looking to find used copies of these books for less than Sonlight charges!  NOW is the time to get these things listed!

Over on eBay Underground, this is Homeschool Week! We're discussing what brands to look for, where to find them, how to price them, what materials to stay away from, and all kinds of other tips. So far, it's been a great, informative conversation. We've got quite a few experienced homeschool sellers and homeschool moms participating. If you have any tips or questions about homeschool materials, please stop by and join the conversation!  The more participation we get, the better the discussion will be. When the week is over, we'll compile all the information in an e-book that will be FREE to our members, so if you aren't a member yet, come and join us!

By the way, this is NOT a Facebook group anymore. It's a discussion board in a more traditional format, but with lots of awesome features! Check it out!

Do you have a niche?

When I first started selling on eBay, I just sold anything I thought I could make a buck on. Now, almost 2 years later, my business model has done a complete 180. I don't waste my time on the small stuff, unless it's something I had laying around the house. For example, I cleaned out the kids' rooms this weekend, and I have a box of toys I'll be listing for cheap. I figure even if I only sell them for $5, that's more than the 50 cents I could get for them at a yard sale.

But anyway ... I'm only a paragraph in and I'm already digressing. Geez .... Anyway! I'd always heard eBay sellers talk about niche markets, but I was never able to establish one. I was lucky to be able to find ANY inventory in my small town, much less enough of the same type of inventory to create a niche. But then I started road-tripping for inventory. Larger towns and cities have so much more to choose from! Obviously.

I started buying a couple pairs of shoes here and there ... and there ... and there ... and a couple more over there. At this moment, I have 178 pairs of shoes listed, and about 70 more in my eBay room waiting for their turn. So I think shoes have become my niche. The more I've worked with shoes, the more familiar I've become (hence the 6-part shoe series).

We don't have to be experts about everything surrounding our niche, but once we decide on (or stumble on) a niche, education naturally follows that. This is where YOU come in...

Over at eBay Underground, we're going to be starting something new this week. Each week, we'd like to have a new theme discussion. We want to generate TONS of participation (this means YOU, lurkers!).

If you have a niche that you know a lot about, PLEASE let us know so we can get you on the schedule. We're not looking for a seminar or anything, but we'd love to have you post what you know, and be around to answer the questions that come up.

This week's topic - Homeschool Materials!  There are plenty of homeschool families and homeschool sellers around these parts. Check in this week and leave your two cents on what materials sell well, what don't, what you look for as a seller, what you look for as a homeschool mom, and anything else that strikes your fancy. Don't be shy!
